Świat (A World) contains ninety-nine of the three thousand photographs by children from Jasionka and Krzywa, two villages in the Low Beskid mountains in south-east Poland. The photos were taken by during workshops run by Piotr Janowski, Paweł Kula and Marek Niniewicz in the summer of 2002. The shots selected for the book by Janowski present daily life in the two villages, both of which had been part of the State Agricultural Farm system in communist Poland. The places and scenes, which were photographed by the children using simple, automatic, analogue cameras, reveal an intimate and candid picture of the local world.
The photographs also went on show in gallery exhibitions in the south-eastern city of Gorlice and Warsaw in 2002, in Vienna, Krakow, the southern Polish town of Wadowice and Göteborg, Sweden, in 2003 and in the central Polish city of Łódź in 2004.
