The book presents a staged documentary created with the young people under the care of the Józef Wieczorowski Youth Custody Centre, which was founded in the central Polish village of Studzieniec in 1876. Krajewska breaks the convention for photojournalism focused on the centre, presenting a series of colour and black-and-white portraits of the young offenders undergoing resocialisation. The metaphorical title underscores that period of transition which is adolescence and coming of age.
