Dorys took these photos using a concealed Lecia in the town of Kazimierz Dolny, not far south of Warsaw, in 1930. They depict the pre-war shtetl which was home, first and foremost, to the Jewish community. This photojournalism, considered a pioneering work of Polish photography, was not published until 1960, with the luxury edition conferring an artistic note on the series.
