Rafał Milach, Pierwszy marsz dżentelmenów (2016)

The album contains Milach’s montage of black-and-white photographs from the archive of Ryszard Szczepaniak, a photographer from the west-central Polish town of Września, and his own shots of teaching aids found in local schools. The gentlemen of the title are Szczepaniak’s friends, sauntering at their ease amongst three-dimensional geometric shapes laid out in an abstract space. Here, Milach is contesting documentary photography in a surrealist game with a found archive.
