The photobook contains a series of colour photos taken during a residency in China from 2013 to 2014. They depict cyclists and motorcyclists in wet, waterproof capes and were taken after dusk using the titular short flashes. As a result, the figures are sharply sculped against a background inundated in the dusk.
The series won the Lecia Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award (2016), the Rencontres d’Arles Author Book Award [sic] (2016) and the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize (2017).
